Morning Walks – My BodiBuddie Story
by JeriOur bodies need buddies.
When we have made a deal to work out with a friend that commitment becomes more than just a work out. It translates in to an action of self pride and being able to follow through with keeping your word with others. You can’t be a slacker because it will be known and you just won’t let that happen!
This is my story of becoming a BodiBuddie.
Approximately four months ago my husband and I were across the street at a neighborhood party. I was having a conversation with Flo, our next door neighbor, and as often is the case with my social interactions, we started to talk about working out. Flo, now in her 50’s who a few years ago trained and participated in marathons, was now getting up at 5:30 am to power walk with hand weights around the neighborhood before she left for work at 7:30. Not being an early riser myself, I was particularly complimentary of her efforts and praised them with a kind of awe and respect. Then she said, ‘Hey Jeri, why don’t you join me. That would be really fun to have someone to walk with.’ My first thought was, you’ve got to be kidding! Then I listened in complete shock to my reply as the words came rolling out of my mouth ,‘ Sure. I’ll do that with you.’
So I did it. I made that deal to show up to work out with another woman and my self worth was on the line. But this time it was not at 5:30 pm it was at 5:30 am…big difference to my usual routine. And it was still a chilly winter season and pitch black at 5:30 am. Read more
My BodiBuddie Mentoring Success!
by Jen
When I was thirteen, I went through a lot of body issues. When my class would run during PE, I noticed that my knees would start to ache. Due to a health diagnosis I was excused from PE for the rest of junior high and high school.
Because I felt so bad about myself and my body all the time I allowed people to influence me in negative ways. I started to go out with friends often and drink alcohol with them because it lifted my self confidence, so taking care of my body and myself in general was not what I focused on when I was younger.
When I was 18, I made a conscious to clean my body of all toxins and work on the things that I never really had, and those things were self confidence, self respect, health, fitness and a love for myself that I had never experienced before. When I started that decision, I was definitely working from absolutely nothing in those departments.
I got a gym membership and I started working out at least three times a week, mainly focusing on cardio. I didn’t see much of a difference at first and I got discouraged but I continued to work out. Around September of that year, which was last year, a life changing situation happened and I grew to be completely stressed. My menstrual cycle wasn’t right and I was losing sleep, but I continued to work out and continued to try to become healthy again. I actually started to take different classes at the gym such as Zumba, Kickboxing, and Body Sculpting. I was working out anywhere between three and five days. I started to read labels of food instead of looking at calories, and since then I have dropped fifteen pounds, and am continuing to work towards my goal of at least ten more pounds.
Then I met Jeri Ross, and she hired me as her assistant to help her work on BodiBuddie.com, the website and let me tell you, it has changed my life. Because of her mentoring in business, health and wellness, I have gained more than I could ever have asked for. My self-confidence has grown from 5% to 95% over the last few years and I feel like I am a changed, better, and more improved person.
